Terms of service

Effective October 7, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Substantia Labs LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("Substantia," "we," "us"). They cover the Substantia app and the website at substantia.app. By using either, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Substantia.

1. What Substantia is, and what it is not

Substantia summarizes published research and other sources about supplements, practices and wellness claims. It is for information and education.

Substantia is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and using it does not create a doctor-patient relationship. Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before you start, stop or change any supplement, medication or practice, especially if you are pregnant or nursing, have a medical condition, or take medication. Never ignore professional advice or delay getting it because of something you read in Substantia. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.

We describe what the research says. We don't tell you what to take. Research changes, studies can be wrong, and we can make mistakes. We work to keep every claim accurate and current, but we don't promise that any claim is complete, current or free of errors.

2. Who can use Substantia

You must be at least 18 years old to use Substantia.

3. Your account

You can use Substantia without an account. If you create one, use an email address you can access, keep your password safe, and tell us at support@substantia.app if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account and all of your data at any time from Settings in the app.

4. What you add

The supplements, practices, doses, plans and check-ins you enter are yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide Substantia to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Acceptable use

When you use Substantia, don't:

  • break the law;
  • copy, scrape or republish the claims library or other content in bulk, or use it to train artificial intelligence models;
  • try to reach other people's data, or interfere with or overload the service;
  • reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
  • present Substantia's content as medical advice, or alter it and present it as ours.

6. Our content

The claims, summaries, signal grids, design and software in Substantia belong to Substantia Labs LLC or our licensors and are protected by law. The sources we cite belong to their publishers; we link to them and describe them in our own words. You're welcome to share links to Substantia and short quotes with credit, for personal, non-commercial use.

7. Paid features

Substantia is free during its founding period. When paid features launch, the price and what's included will be shown in the app before you buy anything.

Subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store and billed to your Apple account. They renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.

8. Feedback

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Substantia without owing you anything for them.

9. Links and other services

Substantia links to research papers, agency pages and other websites we don't control. We aren't responsible for their content, availability or practices.

10. Disclaimers

Substantia is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise that Substantia will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.

11. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Substantia Labs LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any health outcome resulting from decisions you make using information in Substantia. Our total liability for any claim relating to Substantia is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.

12. Indemnity

If your misuse of Substantia or your breach of these terms leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim, including legal fees, to the extent the law allows.

13. Ending your use

You can stop using Substantia at any time and delete your account from Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we need to in order to protect Substantia or other people. Sections 6 and 8 to 17 continue to apply after your use ends.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with its effective date, and for meaningful changes we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Substantia after that, you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Before bringing any claim, please contact us at support@substantia.app so we can try to resolve it informally. Any dispute that can't be resolved that way will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction.

16. If you got Substantia from Apple's App Store

  • These terms are between you and Substantia Labs LLC, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Substantia or its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Substantia.
  • If Substantia fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation for Substantia.
  • Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to Substantia, including product liability claims, claims that Substantia fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
  • Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending or settling any claim that Substantia infringes someone else's intellectual property.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

17. General

These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Substantia. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part of these terms, we haven't waived it. You may not transfer these terms to anyone else; we may transfer them as part of a merger, sale or reorganization.
